Simple yet elegant vintage 1940’s 1950’s wedding gown
possibly home made, acetate with matching slip, s
4 foot train, pointed sleeves with four covered buttons, elbow darts, color is ivory but may be soaked in OxiClean for a lighter color.
(I have not experimented and I am not a dry cleaner so please ask a professional for their advice should you desire same.)
You will need to have the gown and slip professionally steamed.
The front is gathered with piping, darts at the chest (see photos for the stitching that will need reinforcement – this feature allows the gown to be adjusted depending upon your bra size).
Sweetheart neckline, beautiful French seam detail throughout. The self slip is equally well made.
Flaws:
1. One tiny pin sized hole that probably was where the dress was pinned for dancing. It is not noticeable and can easily be covered by the piping or if you decide to add pearls, the hole is perfectly placed to be covered with an embellishment. This hole is not at all noticeable.
2. The slip has some discoloration on the hem from walking. This flaw had to be searched for. No one will notice.
3. The cuffs will need cleaning, there is some discoloration.

This gown feels so loved. Care was taken by someone who made it and wore it and it was cherished. I feel such wonderful vibes from this garment. It is in excellent vintage condition.
Please note the dress has not been newly cleaned. It was packed away after it’s original day out, cleaned and packed away.
