Victorian C. Joyeuse Paris Label Silk Faille Wedding Gown Long Train Bustle Skirt Dress
This amazing antique Victorian era C. Joyuse Paris label silk faille wedding gown long train bustle skirt dress dates from 1890. It is made with an off white cream color silk faille plain weave corded ribbed finish fabric with sheer chiffon ruffle trim accents. This beautiful bridal wedding gown dress has a fitted bodice top with a wrap front style, gathered shoulders with puffed long sleeves, chiffon ruffle trim cuffs, collar, wax flower orange blossom droplet bouquet trim accents, hook closures down the front, is fully lined with stays, boning and has a “C. Joyuse 44 Rue du Colisee Paris” label petersham ribbon waistband sewn inside. The top measures 16 inches long, with a 32 inch bust, 21 inch waist, 17 inch long sleeve and 11 inch back. There is a matching faille fabric very long cathedral train back bustle skirt with tie straps sewn underneath for adding the bustle back fullness, remnants of chiffon fabric ruffle edging along the bottom front, fully lined with a box pleat hem cotton petticoat sewn underneath and has hook closures on the back waistband with rosette trim. The skirt measures 40 inches long in the front, 98 inches long in the back, with a 21 inch waist and 48 inch hips. It is in good condition, with fraying on the chiffon trim bottom skirt, several small stains scattered on the skirt, a frayed split on the front inside taffeta lining bodice and some wear cracks on the wax flower trim (see close-ups). This is truly a rare and magnificent Parisian antique Victoriana wedding bridal gown piece of wearable art!
